SUMMER SNAPSHOT

The six-week Yonsei International Summer School Program (YISS) allows students to take a variety of classes while truly experiencing the Korea. Located in the wooded hills of western Seoul, Yonsei University is only 10 minutes by bus or subway to the downtown area, the fashion-filled city center that sparkles with both modern innovation and ancient cultural tradition. Students can enjoy a variety of Korean cuisine and also take in lively festivals, performances, and folk museums.

COURSES

Courses are taught in English, but students can also take Korean language classes during their program. Students take two to three courses (3 credits each). Classes meet four days a week.

Studying at Yonsei University entails learning from top international and local faculty while living among a diverse international student body. Students may chose from a variety of courses in fields such as arts, culture, humanities, Korean language, East Asian studies, global issues, history, social sciences, Korean culture, Korean studies, management and economics, science, technology, and environment.

FIELD TRIP:
The YISS fieldtrip has been designed to give YISS students an introduction to Korean history and culture as well as its scenic landscape. The fieldtrip is a three-day excursion during which students visit Seoul, Jeonju, Gongiu and Asan. Participants receive an invaluable opportunity to meet with other students before YISS classes begin as well as to obtain one credit for the trip.

EXTRACIRCIULAR ACTIVITIES:
Non-credit activity courses are available to YISS students. There is no charge for the activities, but students must pay for materials. Classes meet once a week. Students have the opportunity to participate in various activities such as hip-hop dance, Taekwondo, Kumdo, Samulnori and Danso.

OPTIONAL WEEKEND ACTIVITIES:
The exciting learning environment of YISS continues outside the classroom with a variety of extracurricular activities held on Fridays. These activities include a Seoul City Tour, B-boy Performance, Korean Cooking Day, Boryeong Mud Festival, and DMZ Tour.

HOUSING AND MEALS

Students live in the SK Global House, an international residence hall. With separate wings for men and women, every room is equipped with an air conditioner and LAN connection for internet access. The dormitory has toasters, microwaves, and refrigerators for students to share. It also has a study room, recreation room, lecture room, computer room, and laundry facilities. Students receive a meal stipend to cover the cost of meals.

Ensconced in a spacious, picturesque, and natural setting, Yonsei University’s main campus is located minutes away from the economic, political, and cultural center of Seoul's metropolitan area.
