ISEP is pleased to introduce a new Global Engagement Program (GEP) Model beginning with the 2012-13 academic year. In GEPs, ISEP directly facilitates community engagement opportunities. ISEP designated Global Engagement Programs (GEPs) provide additional benefits to ISEP participants that enable them to enrich their experience abroad by becoming actively engaged with the local community.
What is the new Global Engagement Program Model (GEP)?
ISEP directly facilitates community engagement opportunities, which may include: volunteer work, service learning for academic credit, independent study, community service, internships and/or research projects.
ISEP-designated GEP sites include a number of additional benefits for ISEP participants that enable them to enrich their experience abroad.
All GEPs include:
- ISEP-facilitated community engagement opportunities
In addition, GEPs may include any of the following:
- On-site Resident Director assistance
- ISEP excursions
- ISEP-organized language course
- Pre-session course
Please Note: Beginning with the 2012-13 academic year, a separate GEP fee will be charged to all ISEP-Exchange participants at GEP designated sites to offset the cost of these added benefits. The GEP benefits will be included as part of the program fee for ISEP-Direct participants.
Where can you find designated Global Engagement Programs?
At the present time, ISEP has two designated GEP sites in Costa Rica and Ghana. Additional programs are under development.
