Contest
Announcing the Second 2007-2008 Photo-Essay Contest!
Who?
ISEP participants who studied abroad for the Full Year 2007-08 or the Spring 2008
semester.
What?
Students are invited to submit entries that reflect on their educational and cultural experiences abroad in one of two contest categories. Entries must be the original work of the student. Submissions should include components such as:
- Details about your academic program and host institution
- Descriptions of daily and campus life in the host culture
- Photos of people, traditions, and local customs
- What you learned from your experience
- Ways your study abroad experience affected your life
Category 1: Graphic Reflections

Text does not have to correlate exactly with each photograph, but the entry should have a coherent theme that is representative of your host country, host university, and overall experience. |
500–1,000 words

Use your creativity and technological skills to wow us! Videos should be no more than 10 minutes in length. You are encouraged to upload your video to YouTube or Google Video and forward the link to isepmedia@gmail.com. |
Preferred format: MPEG4 format with MP3 audio or MPEG2 with MP3 |
Category 2: Creative Writing

Tell us about specific events, cultural components, revelations, or academic experiences that changed your life! Best entries will focus on the specifics and will follow the golden rule of creative writing: "Show, don't tell." |

Why?
Reflecting on your experience abroad as well as the knowledge you gained is not only beneficial to you but encourages others to study abroad. Plus, up to four winners will receive a prize of US$100 each!
When?
Entries should be submitted by July 15, 2008. The winners will be
announced in late August.
How?
Entries may be submitted:
- by mailing a CD with the entry by post
- by email attachment to isepmedia@gmail.com
- by creating your own web page and sending the URL to ISEP
For photo-essays, you may put the text and photos in a formatted Word document, but please also include the original photo files separately on the CD or email attachment.
Please note that we are unable to return hard copies of photographs.

Copyright: All contributors must be prepared to transfer copyright interests for their submission to ISEP. All acceptable entries will be displayed on the ISEP Web site, and photographs and quotes submitted may be used in future ISEP publications. Winners and exceptional entries may also be announced to students' on-campus newspapers
