Courses are offered in subjects including English Literature, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu, Sanskrit, Philosophy, Applied Linguistics, Translation Studies, Comparative Literature, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Painting, Sculpture, Dance, Theater, and Communication (which include Television Production), Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Sciences, Physics, Electronics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Plant and Animal Sciences. Interdisciplinary courses include Human Rights, Women's Studies, Folk Culture, Regional Studies, Indian Diaspora, Cognitive Sciences, Simulation and Modeling, Earth Sciences, High Energy Materials, Nanotechnology, etc.
There are five types of courses:
- Regular University courses (along with the Indian Students) in different schools/departments/centers.
- A selection of courses specially designed for foreign students.
- Independent/directed study where a faculty member supervises readings, field study, and research focused on a specific topic.
- Courses involving practice/performance, e.g. Indian Classical Dance, Theater, Sitar, Painting, Sculpture, etc.
- Non-credit courses such as Yoga, Tabla, Kathak, etc.
