JANUARY-TERM OR SUMMER IN ESTONIA, RUSSIA AND UKRAINE

AFTER EMPIRE: The Collapse of Communism and Beyond

PROGRAM: Spend 3 weeks visiting some of the world’s most beautiful and historic cities! Program includes one week in each country with lectures in English by local professors. Special seminars and meetings with diplomats, businessmen and politicians are included, as well as visits to enterprises, governmental and NGO institutions and media firms. Cultural activities and tours provided in each city.

Week 1: University of Tartu in Tallinn and Tartu — established in 1632 and one of the most well-known and oldest universities in the Baltic Sea area

Week 2: St. Petersburg State University — established in 1724 and listed as one of the leading universities in Russia

Week 3: St. Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Kiev — established in 1654 and widely recognized as the leading and most forward-looking university in Ukraine

DATES: July 1-20, 2008 or January 2009

COST: $3,000, covers tuition, the cost of accommodation, cultural program and transportation between sites.

CREDITS: 6 ECTS credits (usually 3 U.S. semester credits)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1, 2008 for Summer.
