- Most appropriate fields are African Studies (in various departments), Geography and Resource Development, Agriculture, and the Social Sciences.
- Medicine is closed to ISEP participants. Law is only available to students already in law school at home university.
- Students should note that odd-numbered courses are offered in the fall semester and even-numbered courses are offered in the spring semester.

- Beginning course in the local Twi language (two hours/week) is required of all ISEP students during their first semester in Ghana.
- Language of instruction for all other university courses is English – the official language of Ghana.
- Fall Semester (SM1) - mid August through late December
- Spring Semester (SM2) - mid January through late May
- Full Year (FY) – mid August through late May
Special ISEP Application Instructions
- GPA requirement for the University of Ghana is a 3.0. Students whose GPA falls below a 3.0 must include a letter from their academic advisor endorsing their application.
- Applications for Reciprocal Exchange for either SM1 (fall) or SM2 (spring) must be submitted by the February priority deadline. Applications for ISEP-Direct will be accepted until May 1st (for SM1) or Nov 1st (for SM2.)
- All students applying to study in Ghana must complete a University of Ghana application form in addition to their ISEP application.. The original application form and two copies of the form should be included with the ISEP application along with three recent passport-sized photos.
