Academic Notes
Academic fields most appropriate for ISEP participants include communications, biology, chemistry, computer science, English and foreign languages, mathematics, music, and political science.

Language Notes
A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (213 CBT, 79 iBT) is usually required for undergraduate and graduate students. English as a second-language courses are available.

Program Dates
Academic year: late August to May; Semester 1: late August to December; Semester 2: mid-January to May.

Housing and Meals
students will be housed in double-occupancy residence hall rooms on campus and receive 19 meals per week at the university cafeteria. No married student housing is available.

Student Activities
There are a variety of cultural activities on campus during the academic year: the Faculty Lecture and Film Series, recitals by music faculty and students, and fiction andpoetry readings are scheduled throughout the year.

Even non-music majors at Mansfield can audition to participate in vocal or instrumental groups on campus, or in theater and musical productions. They can get involved with any of over 120 clubs and students organizations, including a radio station and a television studio.Two university towns, Ithaca, one hour and a half north of Mansfield and State College, two hours south, offer an array of sporting and cultural events.

The division of Student Activities organizes on a regular basis bus trips to New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and other cities.Mansfield International Student Organization (MISO) and other clubs provide an environment to build and maintain friendships and organize trips and local activities, including cultural festivals, international dinners, and conversation hours.

Profile
Founded in 1857, Mansfield University is a rural college with an enrollment of 3,400 students from 28 states and many foreign countries. Surrounded by state parks, lakes, and spectacular mountain views, the 174-acre campus includes multiple recreation areas, tennis courts and playing fields, an indoor swimming pool, three auditoriums, a TV studio and radio station, a new fitness center, a new student union, and a new child care center.

Location
Mansfield is a borough located in the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania at the intersection of U.S. highway 15 and U.S. highway 6, 50 miles north of Williamsport and 30 miles south of Corning, New York. Driving time from Harrisburg-3 hours; Philadelphia-4 hours; Pittsburgh-5 hours; and New York City-5 hours. Daily bus service, north and south, connects all points in the northeast United States.

Year-round outdoor activities are available in the immediate region. Opportunities include hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, hiking and water sports. Cultural attractions include the Clemens Center of Performing Arts in Elmira, New York, and the world-famous Corning Museum of Glass and Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning, New York.
