Humanities
Bachelor’s level:

Master’s level:
Graduate exchange students can take courses at several master’s programmes. However research master’s programmes are not open to exchange students

Special Academic Conditions
Please note that exchange students cannot receive a degree at the Universiteit van Amsterdam during their period of exchange, even if they are taking courses in a degree program.
Special ISEP Application Instructions
All candidates must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0.
Advanced undergraduate and graduate programs: Students who wish to take part in the Economics/Business program should have completed at least two full years of courses in general economics, business economics, econometrics, actuarial sciences, management, marketing. The Law program is intended for advanced law students who have completed at least two full years Law courses. All other academic departments require two years of a relevant academic background.
Language Notes
The international programs listed in Academic notes are conducted in English. Students proficient in languages other than English (Dutch, French, German, Spanish) might have access to courses taught in these languages. Contact the ISEP coordinator first. Intensive and extensive Dutch language courses are offered before the start of the academic year and during the academic year at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The Dutch language courses offered during the academic year are included in the ISEP benefits only if these fulfill a language requirement at the home university.

Housing and Meals
students are housed in student apartments with a stipend provided for rent and meals. There is no on-campus housing; student housing is scattered all over town. Note: ISEP-Direct programs are tuition-only: room and board are not included in the program fee.

Profile
More than 350 years old, Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) has grown into the second largest university in the country, located in all parts of Amsterdam. Regular class size ranges from one dozen students to more than 500 in large lecture halls, while English-taught programs range from 6 to 100 students. Total enrollment: 27,000 (2,500 international students and researchers).
Location
The university is located in the heart of Amsterdam, a city of canals, museums, theaters, art galleries, pubs, and lively areas. The 130 university buildings, including restored buildings in the city center and modern towers, give character to the city.
