Academic Notes
Strong programs include biology, chemistry, computer science, creative writing, economics, environmental studies, international business, international relations, literature, management, marine science and psychology. Eckerd has a renowned marine science program with a new research facility, the Galbraith Marine Science Laboratory.

NOTE: Students studying at Eckerd will NOT be allowed to take courses exclusively in one subject.

Language Notes
A minimum official or institutional TOEFL score of 550 (215 CBT) is required; an equivalent IELTS score or SAT II (ELPT) can be submitted as proof of English-language proficiency. Pre-session intensive English language courses are offered (not included in ISEP benefits) by the ELS Language Center on the Eckerd campus.

Program Dates
Academic year: early September to May; Semester 1: early September to December; Semester 2: early February to May. A four-week winter term during January is open to academic year ISEP participants only.

Housing and Meals
students are housed in double-occupancy residence hall rooms and receive 21 meals per week in the cafeteria. No married student housing is available.

Student Activities
International students have many opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities as there are more than 84 student organizations available. International students in the past have enjoyed participating in the creative writing club, theater troupe, intramural athletics, academic organizations and service clubs. One of the most valuable resources for ISEP exchange students is the International Programs Office. This office brings together international and American students for cultural exchange, social activities, and travel.

Profile
Eckerd College, founded in 1958, has a national reputation as an innovative liberal arts college. Eckerd has a student enrollment of 1,600 including a diverse foreign student population. About 75 percent of students live on campus. Facilities include a theater, a music center, a visual arts center, a fleet of sailboats, an art gallery, a science auditorium, and a marine science laboratory.

Location
The 281-acre campus, on the waterfront of Tampa Bay, is on the west coast of Florida. The city of St. Petersburg, with its warm climate, clean air and cultural facilities, joins the city of Tampa to create a major metropolitan area.
