ISEP Ambassadors
Activity Guidelines and Ideas

Requirements and Activities

As an ISEP Ambassadors, you will be required to participate in several activities each semester on your campus, but the role of Ambassador is only limited by your imagination and enthusiasm.  The ultimate goal should be to help welcome and integrate incoming ISEP students to your home campus and to assist outgoing students interested in ISEP.

All Ambassadors will agree to volunteer in the following ways:

  1. Represent ISEP at the Study Abroad Fair (or ISEP presentation if your institution does not have a fair)
  2. Participate in at least three additional activities from the list below
  3. Make your email address available and answer questions from interested ISEP students
  4. Post your ISEP Ambassador postcards on campus
  5. Maintain an activity log
  6. Write a report at the end of each semester
  7. Stay in contact with local ISEP Coordinator
Additional Activities

In addition to the requirements above, Ambassadors will choose at least three of the following activities.  Use the Guides on this website for specific information relating to each activity.

Activity Notes
Interact with incoming ISEP students Can be on a large or small scale.  Simply welcome them and introduce them to the campus over the first few weeks, or play a larger role in being their mentor throughout the semester and really help them get to know your country.

Conduct classroom visits Especially target foreign language classes, Freshman 101 classes, and internationally-focused classes.

Hold information sessions Have a general information session for all students; present at student organization and club meetings.

Information Table Have a booth in a high-traffic area on campus where interested students can stop by and talk with you about ISEP.  You can choose to do this once during the major application time, or on a more regular basis.

Assisting Coordinators with predeparture orientations At the end of the semester, use your knowledge to help outgoing students prepare for going abroad.
Volunteer in the study abroad or international office If permitted by your Coordinator, help with administrative tasks such as filing, mailings, and data entry.  Or, use your special talents such as web design or photography to help with a special project.

Participate in the main ISEP Facebook Group Mostly accessible to US students, play an active part in the discussion boards with other Ambassadors, incoming ISEP students, and prospective ISEP students from around the world.

Create an ISEP Facebook Group for your campus Create a campus-specific ISEP Facebook for your university.  Use it as a message center and discussion place for your new internationally-minded ISEP friends.

Create a Photo-Essay or Creative Writing piece about your experience You can do this as part of our bi-annual Photo-Essay Contest or just on your own for ISEP. Taking high quality photos of your own home campus and visiting international students is also useful for our website and publications.
Submit a story or secure an interview for your on-campus newspaper This is a great way to share your experience and get the word out about ISEP. We can help give you other ISEP-basics to include if you need them. Submit a photocopy of the article with your Ambassador report to ISEP.
Have other ideas? Talk with your home ISEP Coordinator or email ISEP if you'd like to propose other ways to be involved as an Ambassador.
