- West African country on the Gulf of Guinea that borders Côte d'Ivoire to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
- First black African country to obtain independence from colonial rule in 1957.
- 2007 will mark Ghana's Golden Jubilee celebration of 50 years of independence.
- Ghana is divided into 10 administrative regions: Ashanti , Brong Ahafo,Central, Eastern, Greater Accra, Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Volta & Western.
- Capital city – Accra.
- Lake Volta – largest reservoir in the world that supplies the electricity for all of Ghana and several neighboring countries.
Climate
- Ghana is located only a few degrees north of the Equator and has a warm, tropical climate.
- Seasons: Rainy Season (April – late August) and (September – November) and Dry Season or Harmattan (mid December – mid February). The rest of the year is warm and humid.
- Temperatures: range from 70-90 degrees Farenheit.
