On Kuopio campus the following non-degree programs which are taught in English (UG= courses available for undergraduate students; GR=courses available for graduate students): Advanced Modern Biochemistry and Molecular Bioinformatics (UG, GR), Business and Management (UG, GR), Environmental Sciences (GR), Health Policy and Management (GR), Information Technology (GR), Pharmacy (UG, GR), Social Work (UG, GR), Social Wellbeing (UG, GR).
In addition there are various Master´s degree programs which are offered entirely in English. ISEP exchange students are welcome to choose courses from these English taught degree programs: Atmosphere-Biosphere Studies , Environmental Biology and Biogeochemistry , General Toxicology and Environmental Health Risk Assessment , Health Promotion in Nursing Science , International Social Work , Medical Physics and Engineering, Molecular Medicine and Biotechnology, Neurobiology , Public Health (incl.public health nutrition) , Scientific Computing.

Courses for Graduate (Masters) Level
The programs below are offered during fall and spring semesters. By individual agreement, it is usually possible to complete additional courses in English by taking book exams or writing essays.
Graduate-level programs taught in English: Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, Health Policy and Management, Molecular Medicine and Biotechnology, Neurobiology, Nursing, Public Health, Public Health Nutrition, Social Work, Sociology of Deviance, and Soil Ecology.
Language Notes
There are a number of programs taught in English (see Academic notes above), although the language of instruction at Kuopio is mainly Finnish. Finnish language courses during semesters are included in ISEP benefits. The language courses organized by the Language Centre (usually in German, French, Russian, and Swedish) are also included in ISEP benefits.
I-to-I applicants who are not native English speakers must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score. Minimum TOEFL score: 237 CBT, 580 PBT, 90 iBT. Minimum IELTS score: overall 6.5 (min. 6.0 in writing)

Housing and Meals
The Kuopio Student Housing Company, Kuopas, offers student accommodation. Students are housed in single-occupancy rooms at student apartments. Student appartments are situated one and a half miles to five miles from the university and have laundry facilities, sauna, and Internet access. Students are provided with a scholarship to cover the rent and the cost of meals. Married student housing can be arranged; any additional costs must be covered by the student.
Profile
The University of Eastern Finland was established on January 1, 2010, as a result of the merger of the University of Joensuu (founded in 1969) and the University of Kuopio (founded in 1972), which were both ISEP member institutions. With its approximately 13, 000 students the University of Eastern Finland is one of the largest universities in Finland.
The University of Eastern Finland - Kuopio specializes in teaching and research in health care and environmental sciences, as well as associated biosciences, biotechnologies, information technology and business administration. Total enrolment: ca 6,000 students (about 350 international students in 2009).
Kuopio Science Park is a focal point of innovative education, research, and expertise projects managed by the university, several national research institutes and private companies. It is famous for world-class expertise in health care technology, pharmaceutical development and biotechnology.
The services of the Learning Center, Computing Center, university libraries, Student Union, Student Health Care Center and sports facilities are available to students on campus.
Location
Kuopio is a city of great natural beauty surrounded by scenic Lake Kallavesi - one of thousands of lakes in Finland. Kuopio offers the opportunity to live close to nature while having modern services and an abundant cultural life close at hand. Kuopio is easily reached by road, rail and air.
The University of Eastern Finland - Kuopio is situated on both sides of the beautiful Savilahti Bay. All services for students can be found on campus. The Kuopio city center and student dormitories are close to campus.
