Books on Amazon
ISEP has created a virtual library of resources available from Amazon. You will find books that will help your student get the most out of the ISEP experience. ISEP has listed the most recent guidebooks, regional literature, and books about the culture, history, and politics for each of the countries where there are ISEP members. http://www.isep.org/Sponsors/library.asp

United States Department of State Web site
The Department of State provides a variety of information about countries as well as information for US citizens traveling, studying, and residing abroad: http://travel.state.gov/.

Tips for interpreting information provided by the U.S. Department of State:

Consular Information Sheets include information such as location of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the subject country, unusual immigration practices, health conditions, minor political disturbances, unusual currency and entry regulations, crime and security information, and drug penalties. If an unstable condition exists in a country that is not severe enough to warrant a Travel Warning, a description of the condition(s) may be included under an optional section entitled "Safety/Security."

Public Announcements share information that may be of interest to travelers. A Public Announcement is a sort of condensed news item, referring to a short-term situation that may affect traveler safety.

Cautions interpret news items and attempt to anticipate any potential problems Americans may encounter. There is always a "Worldwide Caution" in effect to remind U.S. citizens abroad to be vigilant about safety on their own behalf.

Warnings provide travelers with specific recommendations - usually discouraging travel to particular countries because of safety issues.

Embassies
Both the Embassy of the United States in the host country and the embassies of the host country abroad will have information about the host country. Most embassies maintain Web sites. For links to U.S. Embassy Web sites and foreign embassies located in Washington, DC, please visit the ISEP online Country Handbooks.
