Washington After Dark Tour (Friday night, 7:00-10:30 pm)
Join ISEP colleagues on a 3-hour bus tour of Washington, DC. The bus will pick up and drop off at the Washington Plaza Hotel. Fee: $35. Sign up with your conference registration. NOTE: minimum of 30 paid participants are needed to charter a bus through Martz Gray Line.

Restaurant Hops (Friday and Saturday nights)
Join ISEP colleagues and staff for dinner at local DC restaurants. To enable ISEP to plan appropriately, please indicate your interest in participating when you register for the conference. Restaurant menus, costs and sign-up sheets will be available on site. NOTE: dinner cost is not included in your conference registration fee.

 

On Your Own – ISEP Staff Recommendations

AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, Maryland (Metro Red Line) presents the richness of American and world cinema, both past and present, as well as filmmaker interviews, panels, discussions and musical performances. Schedule changes daily. Entry fee varies depending on event.

Library of Congress Tour  is an hour-long, fully accessible docent-led tours of the historic Thomas Jefferson Building. Monday–Saturday, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, 3:30 pm*
*no 3:30 pm tour on Saturdays

Millennium Stageat theKennedy Centerhosts a free daily performance at 6:00 pm. No tickets are required, though seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Featuring local, national, and international talents. Short walk or free shuttle from Foggy Bottom/George Washington University metro station.

National Museum of American History reopens on Friday, November 21, 2008 after being closed for 2 years for renovations.

Newseum offers visitors an experience that blends five centuries of history with up-to-the-second technology and hands-on exhibits. Open daily 9:00 am–5:00 pm. Entrance fee: $20.

Old Post Office Pavilion   Free to go up in the tower and see views of downtown DC. There are also shops and an international food court inside.

Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Southern Jurisdiction Headquarters Free tours available Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm

Voice of America Studio Tour is a behind-the-scenes look at live broadcasting in radio, television, and the Internet in several of the VOA’s 45 languages.  Tours are guided with audio and video features, and last 45 minutes. Monday-Friday at 12:00 noon and 3:00 pm.  FREE. Reservations recommended. 

Washington Monument Tours.  Open Daily 9:00 am-4:45 pm. Free tickets if pick-up at Monument office in the early morning, but a nominal charge if reserved online (recommended to obtain desired day and time).
