SUMMER SNAPSHOT

Long regarded as the gastronomic capital of the world, Italy today is home to countless artisanal food producers which the government has worked tirelessly to promote and preserve. In this unique three-week International Agriculture program students will receive first-class instruction in the areas of Agro-Food Governance, European Food Law Principles, Food Safety, Food Quality, Private Food Law, and Food Innovation all on Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore's beautiful Piacenza campus. In addition, students will have the opportunity to visit and taste the products of many the of region's top food producers and will gain first-hand insight into the challenges faced in today's ever-expanding global marketplace. This course is highly recommended for agriculture students or those students interested in food safety or law.

COURSES

The summer program offers 75 contact hours (10 ECTS, 6 US credits). All courses are taught in English. The program is divided as follows:

Week 1 (25 hours): Food Law

Week 2 (25 hours): Food Tradition and Innovation

Week 3 (25 hours): Wine and Place Marketing

SPECIAL ACADEMIC CONDITIONS

Undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least two years of undergraduate business studies and have a minimum 3.0 GPA are eligible. Non-native speakers of English must submit a minimum TOEFL score of 80 iBT or an IELTS score of 6.

HOUSING AND MEALS

This program is not hosted in Milan but on our campus in Piacenza, located 40 minutes southwest of Milan. Students will be housed on campus or close by. For more information about the location and campus you may refer to our information on the website

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Excursions will include a visit and tasting to the Franciacorta wine region, Italy's home of world-class sparkling wine, and Barolo and the Langhe wine region, including a stop at WiMu, the museum of wine.
