Become an ISEP Direct Member
The ISEP Direct Program is designed to enable students from accredited colleges and universities to study abroad at over 54 ISEP member institutions in 30 countries through ISEP-Direct. In most cases, ISEP-Direct participants register as regular students at host institutions, take the same courses, have the same assignments, and participate in the same activities as local students.
Q: What exactly is an ISEP Direct Member?
A: ISEP Direct members are regionally or nationally accredited colleges and universities whose students are eligible to apply for and participate in ISEP-Direct programs. ISEP Direct members do not receive incoming students through ISEP.
Q: What is ISEP-Direct?
A: ISEP-Direct programs are fee-paid semester, full year, and short-term study abroad opportunities similar to the model of many study abroad program providers. All ISEP-Direct host institutions are members of ISEP and adhere to a set of membership standards. Participants in ISEP-Direct programs pay a program fee which reflects exactly the benefit package (tuition, housing, and/or meals) that they receive. All ISEP-Direct programs are open to students from all ISEP members and are non-reciprocal.
Q: What is the difference between an ISEP Exchange member and an ISEP Direct member?
A: Students from ISEP Exchange member institutions are eligible to participate in both reciprocal ISEP-Exchange programs and ISEP-Direct programs. Students from ISEP Direct member institutions are eligible to participate in ISEP-Direct programs only and not reciprocal exchanges. ISEP Direct members are not obligated to receive incoming students through ISEP. The annual fee for ISEP Exchange members is significantly higher than those for ISEP Direct members.
Q: What is the annual institutional fee for being an ISEP Direct Member?
A:The annual institutional fee for Direct Members is $500. Annual institutional fees are reviewed and approved annually by the ISEP Board of Directors.
Q: What are the benefits of being an ISEP Direct Member?
A:Students from ISEP Direct members have access to some of the most affordable study abroad programs available in both traditional, high-demand locations and non-traditional destinations. The vast majority of ISEP-Direct programs immerse students into the host culture, which fosters student growth and independence. ISEP leverages resources for the mutual benefit of all ISEP network members, especially with concern to program fees and benefits. Professional development opportunities for faculty and staff from ISEP Direct members are available in the form of conferences, symposia, and workshops. Members also have access to print and web-based information about all program offerings, as well as periodic email updates from ISEP central.
Q: Where can students go on ISEP-Direct?
A: ISEP-Direct programs are available at over 54 ISEP institutions in 30 countries throughout the world and in the United States (for non-US students). Host ISEP-Direct countries include Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Fiji, France, Germany, Ghana, India, Italy, Japan, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Uruguay.
